Breckland and District Sunday League - Club Sporting Award

 Season 2011-2012

Marks awarded out of 20 by opponents for sportsmanship on and off the field.

Marks awarded for BADSFL sanctioned games only count.

In order to dispel a few myths that circulate from time to time please read these questions and answers:

Q; We can work out how many marks a team has given us?

A; Marks are only placed on the table after a certain number of games and then it is updated every 4-6 weeks.

It is impossible to work out how many marks a team has given any particular team unless they have played only one game.

Q; Some teams might have a grudge and mark us low?

A; If you are going to think like that then we suggest that you look at why that should be the case and deal with the issue if one really exists.

The mark is an average one, in any event, some teams may mark you more than you deserve so it works both ways.

Q; We’re near the bottom of the table?

A; We suggest you address the issues that are causing your team to be marked down instead of moaning and doing nothing. Most common areas

for marking down is constant backchat and telling the referee what he should be doing coupled with verbal and physical abuse of opponents.

A good team should only be communicating to the referee via their captain and no one else.

Q; Is there anything that can help us issues we may have?

A; The FA runs a Respect campaign and Charter Standard. Both, together with the BADSFL Code of Conduct, set out standards for players, managers, coaches and spectators.

These standards should be set out to anyone connected to your club. There are advantages to attaining Charter Standard, please contact your parent Association for further details.

Q; We’re near the top, is there a prize for the winners?

A; There is a trophy for the winners and the opportunity of competing for the Peter Page Memorial Trophy

Q; Is there a penalty for coming bottom?

A: 1 Teams whose average mark falls below 10 in a season will be called to account for how they are going to address any recurring issues.

2 Teams awarding a mark that falls below 10 (50% of the total marks available) will be required to submit a detailed report substantiate the mark awarded.

Lastly, please remember that the discipline at a game is the responsibility of your club, not the referee, not the opposition, just you. Clubs and players complain about the cost of football

but are quite happy to make voluntary donations to the County FA for cards etc. Just take a minute and think before you act and make Sunday morning a better place for everyone.

Remember the Management Committee are always open to assist your club in any way they can and we look forward to hearing from you should that be the case.

The table below is updated periodically to ensure a particular mark for a particular game cannot be identified. The mark given is based on the teams / players

and clubs loyal followers general conduct on and off the field of play taking into consideration any events immediately before and after the game.

Note: Walkover matches are not included in the calculations as no scores are given.
